Voice Mail

What it does

TELUS Voice Mail takes messages from your callers when your line is busy or you cannot answer. You can retrieve the messages from your mailbox at your convenience. It's loaded with great features for managing your messages. You can:

  • Store up to 40 new messages for 14 days; store saved messages for 45 days.
  • Access your mailbox over the Internet.
  • Receive notification of new messages by e-mail, pager or phone.
  • Get up to four separate mailboxes for the entire family.
  • Recover deleted messages for up to 24 hours.
  • Hear messages as callers are leaving them with Message Monitor.
  • Set up group distribution lists for sending multiple messages at once.
  • Send messages to other Voice Mail users without ringing their phones.
  • Record separate, customized greetings for different situations.
  • Use Toll Saver to check if you have new messages when travelling - without long distance charges.

What you need

  • A standard touch-tone telephone

Family extension mailboxes

Family Extension mailboxes allow you to create up to four separate mailboxes on the same phone line. Each mailbox has its own password and settings, such as greetings and recorded name. They're great for letting everyone in your household have their own Voice Mail without getting separate phone lines.

Message Monitor

  • Listen to Voice Mail messages as they're being left.
  • Choose to connect to the call or leave it in Voice Mail.
  • Use Call Waiting (if you have a subscription) if another call comes through while you're monitoring a message.

Toll Saver

Toll Saver allows you to check if you have any new Voice Mail messages when you're travelling, without incurring long distance charges.

Simply call your home number. If your greeting activates after two rings, you have new messages. If it activates after four rings, you have no messages. Hang up after three rings and no long distance charges will be incurred.

NOTE: Toll Saver must be activated in order to work. See How to use Voice Mail for instructions on how to do this.
